The strength and clarity of Presence vary in accord with the extent to which the illusory identity has dissolved. The less binding the illusion, the greater the clarity of Presence-DAILY GURU
Beloved friends,
The Presence of SELF becomes more and more tangible as the ILLUSION OF OUR CURRENT IDENTITY dissolves...
There are two approaches to this- one where you focus on removing the illusionary self; and the other where you focus on being the Larger Self. Both work; both are required at different points; both require a initial stage of 'KNOW THYSELF'- So the first step is awareness! Of both... Knowing the current self/personality/ego and its desires fears conditioning etc; and knowing the Larger Self, universe, energy, consciousness, Love, bliss That you are.
And becoming aware of the difference! In this the current self automatically yearns to dissolve into its higher beingness rather than fight to remain inviolate! And in tasting True Authentic Self...it willfully continues to dissolve into that Presence...and as the Presence takes over… it does the rest of the work automatically!
Yet ultimately it is focus on the True Larger Self that is required...For in being... thinking and acting …from this larger end of the continuum- it happens! This is the path of TANTRA! Whereas excess focus on working with the illusionary ego self and its issues at this point...only gives it more life! You focus so much on 'your' issues and personality and its root causes... you focus so much on the 'you'! And the whole point is it doesn't exist!!! But by delving into it you give it life and make it more and more real!! In analogy it is like psychoanalyzing a problematic dream self on a joyous day ...why 'she' did this; what 'she' thinks; what are 'her' issues; what is 'her' past!!! But surely you wouldn't spend time on 'her'...knowing 'she' doesn't exist!! You will be too alive to the joy of your day!! Indeed ...your focus on the dreaming self and her issues would needlessly bring an illusionary event into your life!!!
Change the analogy to that self which has played a robust game of snakes and ladders and is now moving onto a joyous joyous joyously full day ; how long would you spend in understanding, delving, psychoanalyzing why you came across the snakes; why the dice threw what it did? It wouldn't matter! you know it was a game with its inherent pits and highs !you know you wouldn't have played it if there were no snakes in a snakes and ladder game ...or you knew every throw of the dice...or had no opponent! You would not spend time on wondering why the dice was so erratic; or why your opponent wanted to thrash you...!
Go beyond the words...at these levels words must be allowed to fall through the fine mesh of your deeper understanding... so that their sum essence touches you beyond intellectual understanding!Allow that awakening to gently fall deep within where words cant go...

Do not feed your ego and your problems, with your attention. ...Slowly, surely, the ego will lose weight, until one fine day it will be nothing but a thin ghost of its former self. You will be able to see right through it, to the divine presence that shines in each of us." Eknath Easwaran

TAKE A CLUE FROM ANCIENT INDIA
This is why ancient India which had expertise in every field- math, astronomy, science, sociology, art, architecture , etc etc etc -had no branch called psychology!
They realized it was an unnecessary focus on an illusion...
They used meditation instead...
So that in this process of focussing and becomeing aware of the Universal Self within....the illusion dissolved... by and by ...itself.

Through Meditation we become watchers... able to detach from the thoughts and emotions that play out in our minds...

TRIPPING OVER JOY
What is the difference
between your experience of Existence
and that of a Saint?
The saint knows
that the spiritual path
is a sublime chess game with God
and that the Beloved
has just made a fantastic move
that the saint is now continually
tripping over joy
and bursting out in Laughter
and saying, "I surrender!"
Whereas, my dear,
I am afraid you still think
you have a thousand moves.
