It is not
action that we must surrender - but doership!
It is not effort that we must surrender but the self-will that seeks to direct
it in particular ways. Its not passion that we let go off - but
attachment! Its not activity or engaging with life & its people/events that
we must step back from- but from identifying self through them/that!
Effortlessness does not imply no effort;
it means when things happen through a ‘me’ rather than by a 'me’. The self who ‘does’ things starts to
recede; the Universal Self that is spontaneously functioning starts to be felt
more palpably. Our sense of 'doing' things - ‘negative’ or
‘positive’- starts to recede; the sense of the cosmic play perfect as it is
starts to be experienced more palpably. Effortlessness is the shift from i… to
I. From limited individual self to the Whole! Effortlessness is pure
discipline- current self disciple to its universal Self! And thus
effortlessness is not no effort but the empowered actions and inspired activity
of the universe- while current self is at rest and in surrender
The word effortlessness regularly used in spiritual paradigm has been
totally misunderstood i.e. people take as if this suggests laziness on the
part of the person concerned or as if no work/action will happen. This simply means you are not the doer. All is happening,
if there is really anything happening. If you are not the doer where does the
question of making effort arise at all ? In another word you are always in the
state of stillness or at rest, if you really exist as per your understanding
that you are not body and mind. It is not that the body will not be engaged in
making effort and from the point of view of others you will still appear to be
making effort like others are making.
Its effort that leads to effortlessness – in each phase of the
journey - and on the whole its effort that leads to effortlessness… effortless
happens when effort has played its role. Each
one has a different experience ... and thus the main thing is that each of us
comes across, or travels that path or that combination that is best for us in
the Now... or what Consciousness chooses for its individuation in the Now
Renunciation doesn't mean rejecting the world- and its people events
and things - it means being able to enjoy everything as the passing show it is!
Otherwise it’s like willfully going for a movie, and refusing to enjoy it,
fretting that it is simply an illusion! Whereas when we enjoy the movie rather
than fret through it all, its inevitable end comes faster than we know! Somehow
I feel this is what reflects in the way
India celebrates many of its festivals- through spectacular parades which wind
through its towns/cities and end by dissolving all the wonderful creations into
the sea/river! Knowing life to be a passing parade to be fully entered into
with great revelry - but one we know will pass by!
Indeed in
true transcendence... we don’t reject, belittle, invalidate or dishonor
that which we transcend ... we embrace the role it played, we honor it as part
of the one continuum… we accept its significance for 'others' who are
experiencing/partaking what we transcended... ! Transcendence= open arms ...
not arms crossed across our hearts shutting it out!
The root
word of discipline is ‘disciple’- and thus when we are ‘disciple’ to
something - discipline in all its purity spontaneously arises! Thus
paradoxically, authentic discipline is not that which is enforced or even
self-imposed (for that will run its course)- it is not the stern task master it
appears to be - but indeed the ‘effortless effort’, inspired endeavour and
ardor of devotion that one experiences within discipleship! In becoming one with something – be it a task, a
job, a goal, some learning, spiritual seeking or whatever –as we move beyond
personal ego -self/ doership ... the intrinsic cosmic sense or order
flows unto us… the life force of creation itselF works through a 'us' in tailor
made ways ..
Being...
is not not doing anything... or not not thinking anything… it is not
inertia or a passive of state of 'being'.. it is the pure momentum of being
part of the cosmic play... a state of dis-identification/attachment to what
happens through the 'me'...we can call it witnessing, acceptance, going with
the flow... but allowing whatever is happening to be... Of course if what
happening thru a ‘me’ in the Now... is nothing... then being is being with that
nothing rather than fighting or resisting it.
Being is
not passive or not passive...it is not active or not active...in practical
terms it is a state where we fully embrace the now...whatever our now is
made up of(our current desires, fears, roles, activities, non activities)....we
live in acceptance and non resistance! At a deeper level it is non
doership....we allow the Whole to flow through us! At its deepest its abiding
in (not only intellectually knowing) Self/Awareness of Self... and the creative passion and love that propels
forth existence ....and thus... simply
being … in love...with whatever ...my part is in the now! So we come
back full circle to point one! Practical to sublime back to practical!
Grace is
the presence of 'your' absence. As ‘you’ the personal identity begins to
merge with -& thus experiences -impersonal Self… the ‘you’ that is still
present describes it as grace
Grace! As
‘you’ the personal consciousness that you are familiar with begins to dissolve
- & become one with- Pure Consciousness...the ‘you’ that is still
present experiences this poignantly unfathomable state as Grace. Grace iis not
conferred on a 'me' by another- Guru God or Cosmos - Grace is the experience of
Self flowing unto self!
The paradox of grace- the less of me,
the more ‘i’ experience grace! The paradox of grace - as Self increasingly
permeates and fills ‘self’… self decreases &
dissolves! The paradox of grace – no self, no experience of grace- and live is
gracefully lived …what Zen describes as boiling water and chopping wood.
Grace has
little to do with another external larger force…god guru or cosmos- it is
Self triggered at every step... Self triggers self...and self triggers Self
....and so on ..! This of course depends on our definitions of God/Cosmos/Guru
/Self etc.... if we view them as the One Self... then it’s all Self to self to
Self
Equanimity
is a state that does not instantly divide everything into good-bad, like-dislike,
gain-loss or pleasure-pain but sees that things simply - ‘are.’
Bliss is
not some constant state of happiness & joy as we sometimes view it to be –
but this state of equanimity. bliss is not a state devoid of ups/downs/pain but
a state beyond these opposites, and in that is a subtle but all imp difference:
bliss does not mean ‘no’ pain or downs, and neither does it mean a state of
‘only’ happiness or ups - because in being ‘beyond’ opposites even in the midst
of up/down/pain/ joy self remains unaffected by them… and so that blissful
‘peak to peak’ or restful ‘valley to valley’ experience is humanly possible!
Each sin
is a judgment we form through lives; and as we drop each judgment there no
longer remains any thing like ‘sin’.
Lack is an area where Universal Consciousness has not been
experienced. It is not an area of
emptiness, it is not an area of absence, it is not an area of poverty, it is
not an area of need, and it is not an area of scarcity. It is an area where
Consciousness has not been experienced
Evil has no source other than separation from and ignorance of Self and thus
as the journey to Self blossoms and ignorance abides and separation
decreases...we increasingly move from the concept of evil into the original
cause of it all- Love! Thus when you view another through the lens of 'bad'
& 'evil' understand his darkness...his lack of awareness and unity
consciousness … and allow the light of your awareness and fullness of
source to flow towards him...
In separation from and
forgetfulness of Self / Source and its abundance and love - do we fear
and feel lack, alone and powerless...and think thoughts and thus take actions
called 'evil/bad/negative' by the world. However as we unite with and move into awareness of the Self/Source
that we are - we experience Its state of joy, love and abundance- and there
is automatically a decrease of fear,
anxiety, loneliness & powerlessness and thus thoughts & actions
ensuing forth from there ! Indeed as we increasingly feel safe and nourished
and embraced as Self/Source-there is automatically an increase in thoughts and
actions flowing from here!
Perfection is a dynamic state of being…not a grand finale or end as
we often consider it to be! There is always more within it to tap and actualize
- and paradoxically that is its perfection! Or perfection would soon turn
stagnant and lose its perfection!
The word ‘pure’, is without the judgment it usually implies and
thus not better than ‘dense’! The only difference in pure and dense is the
vibratory frequency at which I am exploring or experiencing Self! Thus yes,
while pure does refer to our ‘finer’ vibrations …in the larger picture it is
these finer aspects of self, which choose the ‘denser’ experiences to add to
their finesse. Thus
‘All That Is’ can paradoxically become –‘more’
Fears all
arise from over identification with ego/limited self... and being unable to move
into/abide as Authentic Self. So thru gyan, awareness and the many tools we
have we make this shift and the firmer and longer we abide as Self ....the more
do the fears decrease. At times when fear holds sway (like it does time to time
for most) we need to voluntarily try and shift into Self (use the many
tools-chants, or positive affirmation. meditation, gyan etc)
Peace is not in the absence of thoughts, but when thoughts can come
and go and we are not impacted by them.
Peace is an instinctive longing – but the inner peace of the soul
- is different from what we often call
‘peace’. Peace is not a passive state of being but an expanding of the soul! Peace is not in cessation of this and that but in
a deeply fulfilled state of being! Peace is not in rest & respite but in
eternal play! Peace is not a wall placed
protectively around you shutting out darkness- but a light, which banishes the
‘darkness’ forever!
Peace:
More often than not, when I ask someone starting out on their spiritual journey
what they are looking for they say: peace of mind! And it’s always an eye
opener to them when I point out peace of mind arises only from deep abiding inner
fulfillment! Indeed in this fulfillment
lies the true secret to peace of mind – because when you are deeply fulfilled –
anxieties and worries can come and go but peace reigns within!
Humility is not a quality to
be possessed but the absence of 'someone' to possess it. As one abides in
the awareness that all is consciousness, that there is no separate me/the doer,
that all qualities actions experiences rise in consciousness as consciousness
wills... we move away from identifying with all that flows through 'us'.. and
the sense of separate self dissolves & there remains no one to claim
humility.
We are all
unique & special...we are 'each' what the 'Whole 'chooses to Be-
experience, revel, explore through a 'me'! Thus 'each' of us is what only
we could be for the Whole… and in this gnosis is the embrace of our own
individuality & that of every other! Thus being unique doesn't lead to
exclusiveness but an all -inclusive embrace; it doesn't create hierarchy but is
one with complete equality; it doesn't confer superiority but celebrates self
worth with great humility sincerely believing that every other person on the
planet is special and unique too. So come beloveds,
enjoy & appreciate what only 'you' can be for the Whole... what 'God' has
chosen to be through a 'you'! And yes beloveds enjoy, appreciate, revel &
fall in love with all the other aspects /purposes of 'God'... through each
& everyone around you!
Everyone is a genius, but if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a
tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid -
Einstein! Very often we go through life or a stage of life thinking we are not
particularly gifted, that we are perhaps stupid or average, or live life
without purpose...we perhaps compare self with others...seemingly smarter or
purposeful ...sometimes we try and live out others expectations ...and end
up feeling worse for not being able to fulfill that! And then...we find … come
across... our purpose to be in any current phase/life...this can be a learning
or contribution it matters not...it happens when the time is right....but when
we find this ...we find our 'genius' so to say...!A certain inner certainty ,
self worth, acceptance arises...we don’t try to be that fish striving to
climb a tree but are happy to swim in our waters!
Individuality is
Oneness exploring every nuance of Itself! And each individual remains the
whole…because each individuality... actually... contributes and experiences -
the Whole! Like a team of children may collect different data for a project-
but they All enjoy the whole project and thus each others
contribution/exploration
Shaktipath
is direct energy transmission from one to another beyond time and
space...an initiation is when we energetically move into a higher frequency of
being...love is what brings the transmitter and receiver together. Initiation
means when we are taken into a level of consciousness higher than our
previous... by word, look or direct transfer of energy
True
service is when the service serves the server! We truly serve in feeling
served through our service; we best reach out, when we reach within in
fulfillment; service serves the server or it becomes other things like duty,
responsibility and the granting of favors
Service: To be truly served we must
play our role in enabling the server, to feel served through his service! Be
it through appreciation or exchange appropriate to the service - or his
serving becomes other things like duty, responsibility and the granting of
favors. Service serves the server; remember this as the server or the served or
it becomes other things.
Your
consciousness is your contribution to your world. Through an expanding
consciousness, you are in 24/7 service, wherever you may be, through whatever
jobs you may hold or not, through whatever your day to day life comprises of
.This is being a ‘light worker’.
In the
spiritual sense, you cannot be selfish even if you want to… 'your' growth is
Mine… and ‘his’ ‘hers’ and everyone’s and ‘everything’s. You cleanse, resolve
release your fears… for all! Why you may ask? Because my dear when you
resolve a fear/weakness it is less prevalent in your energy fields, and thus in
human consciousness and so you are making it easier for all concerned! You have
reduced the strength of its vibration from the universe. When ‘you’ evolve any
of you, every ‘other’ does so! It cannot be any other way… it cannot be.
Because we are one, and the separations individuation's are only seemingly so!
As your light increases, all’s light increases - it has to- each individuation may
feel it or not differently depending where they are in the now…but everyone’s
‘light’ quotient expands! When you pray for your beloved, you pray for all
without even knowing it because when a beloved receives love and positive
intent all beloveds do - energy cannot be restricted and love radiates from one
to another in ways far beyond your perception. When you heal a friend, you heal
the world- you cannot heal one and restrict the ripple effect. What you view as
‘your’ desire for ‘your’ growth…your 'personal' journey… is only the tool We
have designed towards Our expansion as Consciousness. See how brilliant We are?
What a plan? There is nothing like ''your' growth in the larger picture- this
is My masterpiece! Everything is for every…One…! All the work you do for ‘self’
…reaches all! What better plan could spirit have come up with? Indeed ‘you’
cannot tune into Spirit, evolve, pray, receive, grow heal… without all others
doing so...
Dharma is
not 'duty'; dharma is not 'the good' which opposes evil; dharma is the
inherent state/nature of the universe/God; dharma is the laws of the universe;
thus dharma for us implies being/doing is what you and I inherently are and are
born to be and do
As we
bridge the seeming gap from self to Self- we spontaneously and automatically
move - from selfishness to Selfless ness! Selflessness =Unity consciousness
= and thus thoughts, actions, responses flowing from That .Selfishness =
individuated, separated personal consciousness (ego self/me notion) = and thus
thoughts, actions, responses arising from its limited perspective
The secret
of authentic balance… is when it can embrace its moments of imbalance!
Stillness in chaos… like the universe! True balance is when balance and
imbalance are not experienced as two mutually exclusive states of being… but as
points along the one continuum… when balance is not seen only in the fixed
centre point… but in the equanimity of wherever we might find ourselves in any
Now… along that continuum!
Indeed often, a strictly imposed rigid balance on self, stems from a sense of
deep imbalance, and fear of the unbalanced self...! This surface balance is
like carrying ones ‘balance’ like carefully carrying wine glasses filled to the
top and scared of them spilling over....!
Choicelessness
does not mean opting out of life’s choices or abdicating our responsibilities (we
cant, because not to make a choice is a choice!). Choicelessness is living in a
heightened state of awareness … awareness of the many choices present, and the
awareness that none is better or lesser, and the gnosis that whichever choice
is acted upon (through whatever process one arrives at it- be it logically,
intuitively, seemingly randomly or due to guidance inner or outer…) is what is
Consciousness chooses through a me in the Now… its what is required by the
Whole for the Whole in the Now however it plays out. Thus choicelessness is
detachment from results… non-judgment (a dropping of labels like good bad right
wrong happy painful)… acceptance of whatever is happening… non resistance to
that which is …living in the Now! Thus Choicelessness is the move from
separated ego-self and its choices, to Universal Self and its unity
consciousness surrender to Its flow of events. In this choicelessness the
‘mind’ rests…bows out indeed…and without the active mind there is no separate
'me/you' …thus authentic choicelessness is non-doership… an outer active state
of action … yet inner inaction …thus a state beyond karma (cause and effect)…
no you no your action no cause and effect…leading us beyond samsara!
No choice
is really 'wrong'! Even if it leads to what we may view as stagnation, a dead-end or
a challenging situation - for that 'seeming mistake' was what we needed
to meet, face & get out of the way- and in this understanding... there no wrong
choices!
