WHY
EXISTENCE? SPECIALLY WHY MUST PAIN T BE A PART OF IT ALL?
A transcription of one of my earliest discourses (2003.) I would change
many of the terms I have used – and the transcript is sketchy -but go with the
gist please!
And we wonder why existence? Why life? What pain and
problems? Just think what ‘That’ must
be- to eternally and infinitesimally WILL to be! We cannot even conjure…and
perhaps, perhaps catch but a glimpse when we view every beautiful scene,
experience, relationship…we have ever experienced….! Perhaps in what we have
found penultimate beauty -we may catch a glimpse why…! (And in the simpler:
when I hug my dog, I feel wow, how lovely to have become man and dog and enjoy
the love so tangibly)
And imagine as Shiva- as that I- awareness- I am always
experiencing each and every aspect of this beauty, glory, love, wisdom, power,
creativity…(Shakti) call it what you may…and in a multi focus! Together! At once! I am immersed in it- drunk in
it….And so where the ‘not good’-ugly –pain- problem…when I am so focused on all
this splendor! (Like the sexual act, is focused on the love, joy, bliss and
union… not on the abrasion of ‘two’ bodies.
And each of us- always retains that focus- of course in
deep sleep- but even when awake we are connected to all of this ‘unconsciously’…. every moment …or we would not live for even a fraction
of a moment! We truly ‘pulsate’ out of this in nano-split seconds (kshan) to
enjoy life…but this joy and bliss is the bed from where we pulsate ‘out’ so to
say! Into which we ‘rest’, kshan to kshan… nano second to nano second…and as we
evolve from self to Self… as we abide as witness… we abide here more consciously!
Lets view this through an analogy-when you are playing a game- snakes and ladders, opponents,
the dice of destiny, choices on the board…you know you are Divyaa and at home
with beloveds…and however much your focus may be on the game, or movie, or book
-how ever deeply engrossed you may be-a part of you KNOWS who, where, what you
are and thus enjoys thoroughly the whole process… And like that we always
always do!
The trick is to become more and more aware! To switch the focus from game, book, movie-life-
inwards to this continued joy, bliss, love, resting motion! To that
knowing-(what we are doing through these classes and sessions and reading) and
to that feeling (through meditations and life)! And paradoxically as we switch
focus from the single point/focus of outer day to day life on the outside- we
become multi- focus inside! We expand our focus to encompass more and more of
what we are- that’s what happens in meditation and then 24/7- and that’s what
we truly are : multi focus beings (not the uni-focus of any given outside life
) till we reach ‘back’ to being Shiva- completely all encompassing, omnipotent
focus! Or more accurately till our focus expands ‘back’ into being the whole!
Yes, we have chosen a single finely honed focus through
physical life- willfully-like when we
choose to go to movie or game and ‘switch of” our ‘larger self’ of this
analogy… so to say… so that we may get all out of that
experience/book/game/movie! Otherwise its like going to movie and having your
cell on, and your home, servants, kids ‘on’ through the movie…like having your
laptop with you and doing office work during the movie…! No we choose to
disconnect’ from them partially- to enjoy the movie wholly!? And so we do for
each life! But just like in this analogy-however much you may disconnect to
focus on the movie-you always always know the rest of you! When the movie or
book is very gory- however sad you may feel- because ‘you’ are ‘you’ in real
life and not the movie however engrossing it may be… you do not wholly suffer
in that! And so switch your focus now to the REAL you in life…to the
witness-the inside who is drunk in the joy and bliss who he/she is for we are
always connected to this Self!
And now think: pain? Problems? Think Shiva viewing all his splendor- think of real
things- not just the word- and you will catch a glimpse that what we call
problems don’t exist! They are the (I am not) or the steps in the game that
plays itself out for the game to be -which we willfully choose for pure joy! So
you can’t say but I am in pain because I have the veils and have forgotten who
I am and how silly, why this game? You have NOT FORGOTTEN-YOU CANNOT INDEED!
How do I say this, for there are no words: its part of the game to think you
have forgotten! But you have not or you wouldn’t live for a fraction! On any
realm! Leave alone physical! It’s like saying but what if I forgot in the
movie, I am Divyaa? What if I forgot in the game, we are best friends….you
cant! You don’t! You designed it that way! Oh you may get swept away….but
that’s part of why you chose that movie or book or game- ….! But you always
know….! Right? And that’s the game/movie// book of physical earth life- a more
intense movie or book than others- but, which you choose and why you choose it!
In others realms it may not be so ‘engrossing or intense’ and so we remember
more! And yes- that has its own joy- just like we need restful books or music
programs too!
And imagine the love, the will, the creativity…
imagine…how much… how much? To want to
play this game… just to be each and everything I can!!! Imagine the confidence!
Will you go for a movie if you were told you would forget self- aha-it would
depend on yr confidence! Many will say yes -what fun- like the roller-coaster
rides….!
And further- when the game/movie is over- the overall experience that is stored, retained is the
fun, love, learning, camaraderie etc what you gained from the movie etc…not
each scene or throw of the dice! And like that as a Shiva: no thing other than
that fulfillment- is! No words so please use these all to go beyond. Even your
causal bodies- souls- don’t know pain…problems….there is no thing like that!
For this part of you…what we can call the more ‘real part’…only stores the sum
total: the joy, bliss, love, wisdom…! Its like saying when the pain… of say a
death scene in the movie is over…you are carrying its pain around with you-
(and ha- when do you- when you get so involved in it that you forget yourself
more…yet never wholly or u would die in the movie)- and yet the moment you can
switch your focus back to the ‘real’ you- there IS NO PAIN of the death in the
movie! For the death or scene didn’t happen! It wasn’t! It wasn’t! It didn’t
happen! It was only a beautiful experience with friends and popcorn and a
dinner thereafter to share even more!! And why did Divyaa CHOOSE to go to a
movie with death scenes and pain- because it isn’t- it isn’t ‘real’-it isn’t-
it doesn’t matter-I KNOW THAT!!!! And so do I joyfully go!
No words….

SOME QUOTES FROM MORE RECENT WRITINGS ON THE SUBJECT: Maya is the divine hypnotist; awareness the divine
de-hypnosis! As we move into awareness & its
de-hypnosis can we better enjoy the show of Maya -the mystery &
illusion-the ups & downs of day to day life - from the best seats in
the house! In this de-hypnosis we abide in the 'gap' between the breath and
witness the drama/Maya that every breath brings on!
No ‘me’/ ego self/personal identity = no doer = no one to suffer = no
thing like suffering! In the deeper sense this actually answers the
question that we all grapple with at some point: “Why would we as
God/Consciousness create a world with pain & suffering?” So yes as long as
there is a me...suffering seems to be. But …No ‘me’ = no doer = no one to
suffer = no thing like suffering … !This can best be understood through the
analogy of why we create the experience of a movie or a game: we willfully
create & go to movie’s with ups & downs in their story line, but as we
are not the characters of the movie, we actually ‘enjoy’ the experience of the
conflicts, trauma’s and pain within the story line…without suffering! We have
not created a painful experience, inspite of the seeming pain we have created
in the movie! Let’s take the analogy of
a game: we choose to play snakes & ladders with its ups & downs but as
we are not the counter on the board we actually ‘enjoy’ the experience of the
games traumas and exultations! We have not created a painful experience inspite
of the snakes seemingly gobbling us in the game! Thus as God/Consciousness we
have created ‘the world’ in a similar manner – we have not really created
suffering and pain –inspite of the seeming ups and downs…. and as self/personal
identity/ ego/ ‘me’ dissolves… as there is increasingly no me = no doer = no
one to suffer = no thing like suffering … becomes an experiential gnosis and
not merely an intellectual concept …nor a question we put to ‘God’ asking why?
